Going to see this boat on Saturday. I shopped around for 2006 boats such as Bayliner but all seemed to have 3.0L. These were all nice but I wanted a 4.3L and this one is fuel injected!! I want to know if going for an older boat with more power is a good idea or what or if it all depends on the hours or care of the boat. Someone told me hours don't matter because they can be tampered with.
He has info on the add but here is what he also said:
I?m the second owner and I bought it from a dealer who told me that it was owned by an older man who only used it occasionally to take out his grandkids. Based on the condition, I believed the dealer.
Boats and cars need maintenance. Rubber dries out - bellows and only last ten years or so. Pumps fail. Boats are not cheap to own (BOAT ? ?break out another thousand? or Boat ? ? a hole in the water that you throw money into?). Fortunately, I haven?t had to put any significant money into this boat other than a new prop. I have only replaced the raw water impellor (possibly why the dealer replaced the water pump, since they misdiagnosed the cooling problem), oil and filter, spark plugs. The impellor needs to be replaced every 3-5 years, plugs are cheap to replace, and oil and filter changes are needed every year. All other maintenance was done before I purchased the boat ? maybe the dealer was ripping off the previous owner ? I don?t know. The only thing that I was happy about was that I was getting a boat with new parts and very low hours.
