What are people's thougts on using this in my 4.3 Mercruiser for engine oil? I've always used the recommended mercruiser 4-cycle oil, which is also 25W-40.

I don't care what brand. I don't care if it's synthetic or not. As long as it's the same viscosity as recommended, go with it.

Hmmm... we made it 2 days into the New Year without an oil post. Should have started a pool.

do a search on 'oil'. there are enough threads with tons of opinions (and even some information) that it really doesn't need to be repeated. once you browse past threads you'll see why a new one is not such a great idea, lol.

Racing oil is formulated for motors that are serviced often. They have hi-temp and anti-wear additives, but they do not have what a boat needs, namely anti-rust and anti-acid properties.

Get a manual. That should tell you what type oil to use. :D

Simple,it sounds like you have already made a good choice of oil and I would stick with it.There is not a soul here that will tell you not to use what you are already using.Merc does a great ad in the "boating" Magazine for that oil.Charlie
