Opinions please.

I would like to hear opinions on the 1993 150 hp Johnson Fast Strike motors. I found one for sale and it overpowers my boat ratings but i am interested in it. I also found listed a 1993 Mercury 115 hp that doesnt over piower my boats ratings.
I would really like to hear any type of opinion on these models in particular from as many points of view as possible. I was advised by another member of the forum to try and find a post 85 model motor of a few different brand names rather than dumping money on small amounts of performance increase. Thanks all!

I have heard that those motors in the early years had thin sections in the block casting that broke through and let water into the cylinder....supposedly they fixed it in 1993 or 1994.......not sure which....other wise those 60 degree eagle motors ran great......I have a 1993 fastrike now with a hole in the block....bought it like that for parts....bob

The rating is at 120 hp. Just so happens that when I drilled a test hole in the transom about an hour ago, the shavings came out like a darn sponge. I guess its a good thing its gettin torn down right away anyway.
