OK, gearing up to start fixing/replacing floor in a early 70s hustler bass boat. floor was removed after captains seat, other seat would sit behind captain, cobra gunship style. delemia, do I put in the other seat, leave it open for cargo/ and or the pups?
I do go out solo more often than with another person
I do go crapping and space would be nice
I can build a removable bench seat or use low profile lawn chairs in back...
so, what all is your input?

If you are out alone a lot I would go for the extra space. I did a rebuild on my Sea Nymph a few years back and only put 2 seats in the cockpit area. That has worked out fine for me, but make sure you have some place for a passenger to sit SAFELY if you intend to take any one else out.

well, factory seating was one seat behind another along the centerline. so someone in back shouldn't compromise safety if I go with a low seat. the ex wife will have a special made extra tall wobbly 3 legged bars too..... um..... forget the last part, lol.
so far the open cargo area is looking better and better

Since you say u go out crapping a lot, you might wanna use that space for a head, just sayin :)

Have you considered a removable pedestal for the second seat? Then with the seat out, there would just be the mounting plate on the deck. Just a thought.

is there a pedestal mount for a decent price that is removable without having a stump sticking up? I'm the one who seems to find the dresser with my pinky toe in the middle of the night... etc

mud, there are a lot of low profile pedestal bases on the market. Now decent price is subjective. But you also have to really beef up the underside to keep them solid. JMHO

beefing up isn't a problem, was thinking the basic plate style, use the captured nuts on the underside if the flooring. line plate up, drop in n tighten bolts, done. otherwise I'd be tripping over the mount.
was thinking the collar and pipe style, like how camper tables are set up, still trip over it.
