"81 Evinrude 50.

The wire on top of the started solenoid came loose, the little voice in my head said,Disconnect the battery first, but of coarse I didn't and I shorted to the block.

I have replaced all the fuses with breakers which I reset but the starter won't hit now, the choke works but the starter won't engage, as in it does nothing, oh and I put a known good spare solenoid on and it still is dead.

Don't have a kill switch and I am leaving to fish in 20 minutes so i will just jump the solenoid tonight, the starter works that way.

So where do I start looking?

DOOOHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got out on the water and jumped the solenoid once, it died, I hit the key and the starter worked again, I though it "fixxed itself" but I will bet you that was it.

I'm not gonna lose rank on this am I, in my defense I had to rebuild both the rear brakes on my truck and my daughter had prom last night and UPS brought me a brand new video camera that needed played with so I had a couple things going at once and the obvious went right over my head.

Maybe I should have answered my own post, I probably would have told someone else to check that.

I have done that before and it just popped the breaker so I wandered what was up, I geuss you have to be stupid before you can be smart, hopefully I am on my way to the latter.

Thanks FR
