2001 150HP Optimax DFI with 383 hours.

Had been turning 5200 rpm at WOT but now, I'm getting only 4800 rpm WOT and the hole shot has degraded.

I installed the proper spark plugs/gap (per Mercury Tech Support) about ten hours ago. I replaced the fuel/water separator and the fuel primer bulb after the rpm loss. Using DFI oil and fresh fuel. Prop is fine. All temps and pressures normal.

Haven't gained back the lost rpms.

Took the boat in for a check-up. The mechanic took it for a lake check with the diagnostic equipment hooked up and determined that the spark plug wires were breaking down. He said it was a common problem and Mercury has since updated the spark plug wire kit.

Did my own lake check yesterday and performance is back to normal.
