Ordered e-tec 50

Well, I finally did it. My new e-tec is being installed as I write. I know there's not a lot of experience out there with these motors--but there sure is a lot of talk!

So.. I guess I'll be a guinna pig. I'm getting a 50hp tiller on my 18' Alaskan and will let everyone know how it works out. I suppose I'll be spending this weekend with it. Even though they say there's no break-in, there really is. It's just that I don't have to do anything special--the motor does it itself (so I hear, anyway).

I'm keeping my expectations low at this point. That way I'll be pleasently surprised if even half the hype turns out to be true.

Wish me luck!

Thanks

Marketing folks really have a way of spoiling all your fun at the end of the day, don't they. Hopefully you are going to be very happy with your new motor... :D
oh yea, good luck

Bill

I'm sorry to hear that. I looked at the e-tec too. But I ended up buying the Yammi 4 stroke. I do have to break it in, but after that the salesman said it won't burn any gas at all. :)

Good luck with the e-tec. I think you'll like it.

Fished with a guy who had one, well, next to him but not in his boat, for a week in Canada.

He loves it.
Only problem he has had, was the kill switch was out of adjustment, and the motor would die when he pounded a big wave.
