Original cowl colors for 1990 70hp evinrude

I am redoing a 1990 70hp Evinrude. I just got done paint striping the cowl/engine cover. I took off 3 layers of diffrent color paints.

Can anyone send me a picture of the orginial cowl decals/paint configuration?

Or if you know of a link to a internet picture, that would work fine.

If a picture of your engine, please just private message me with a email address and I will reply with mine.

Go to shop2.evinrude.com, select your motor from the options on the left. They will have a paint chart option in the parts list. The paint chart includes colors, paint codes and the whole bit.

Thanks for the reply, but I found the colors and paint chart, but exactly how is the colors configured? Does the engine cowl have stripes, if so approx what size? and so on..... I guess what I am saying is a picture is worth a 1000 words, just need a pic of 90 70hp cowl, I probably can take it from there.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you. Damn, I was hoping to paint the cowl mostly white. I have some left over Awlgrip white, anyway, that is not going to work.

Hmmm. back to drawing board on paint.

OMC sells the paint for your motor in spray bombs, that's how I paint mine, OMC spray bombs, decals from various sources and clearcoat (only cause my dad can spray clear).


I'm finishing my 9.9 cowl tomorrow, i'll post pics when I get home.

Here are some shots of my 1990 90 hp before meeting the presure washer. Original decal kit for this thing is almost impossible to locate. My dealer found 2 in the entire USA. My local print shop can make them for $75 so I'll probably go that route. I can give you some dimensions if needed. Good luck!

Poke around on Ebay for graphics, a couple good sources there.

Of coarse if you go with your local sign shop they can do whatever you want in any color unless original is important to you.
