original prop question

So I've figured out how to find a prop for my specific boat that'll fit, but obviously it links you to props at basically every pitch. Is there any way to find out what prop a specific boat came with from the manufactuer(including specific pitch). I get that you have to check where rpm was of current prop on the boat at wot but we just got the boat and I never did a wot check. If not, Do most places let you test a prop and return it (assuming you did no damage) if the suggested wot rpm range is off w that prop?

Nope,... Not really,... Not unless the original manufactuer has it in it's database, probably by hin #...

Re: original prop question

So in my situation I just have to take a shot in the dark at the pitch size? What if the rpms are way off with whatever pitch I take a chance at. Do most places let you switch props as long as you didn't do damage to them or something? I can't be the only one whose ever been faced w this dilema lol

Re: original prop question

Have you read the stickies at the top of the page?
There are places that will exchange props to help find the right fit.
If you get us your details; boat, motor etc we may be able to suggest a starting point. If you do a test and get your prop size and the max rpm and speed to us we may be able to help with a selection.

Re: original prop question

Thank you for the help I do appreciate it. My problem is we just got the boat and the prop hit on the ride down (didn't have a trailer so had to drive the boat all the way home and chartplotter hadn't arrived yet) Anyways, because I just got the boat and that happened the first time I don't know performance/rpms at WOT. I was trying to get it all done at the same time just because of limited amount of time but I guess what i'll just do today is try to just pull it out of the water to get the make/spec of the current prop and just go from there. I never got the chance to do the WOT test prior to prop hitting but everything seemed to be good and I know at about 3/4 throttle it was in the 4,000 range (roughly) so im hoping by finding out the current pitch of the prop that'll help solve my issue of not having a clue as to what pitch to get.

Just fyi my boat is a '89 four winns 235 sundowner 5.7L OMC Cobra (260hp)

Thank you again for the help.
