Hello all.

I need to pick your brains a bit.

I have a new Orlando Clipper. Its hull number is: 48-14-649. Its a 14 foot fishing boat with a covered storage area in the bow. Pictures are below.

I found a list of clipper boats online and they made three boats like mine. There are slight differences but I have not yet figured out what the differences are. I'm guessing that the numbers are:

Model name or number - length of boat -???. I am assuming that the last number means it was the 649th boat made of this model. Can anyone confirm that my assumption is correct?

I'm actually in Orlando for a week so plan to do a bit of research here. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Y'all,

Kim

Looks like there were a bunch of 48-14 XXX boats from 1957-59. From here, it also lists the former Orlando Clipper corp office location.

Best of luck!

Wow, Thanks so much! Looks like mine is a 1960 model 48-14DSF. There are only 2 models that had 48 inch wide transom and mine is the more expensive model because it has the storage compartment and covered bow. Then, since the "code" column is sequential, I have to assume that it is the number of that model built and it goes up to 295 in 1960. The last three numbers in my boat are 249 so it was built in 1960: I looked closer and had misread the 249 as 649.

So the mystery is solved! At least my theory is based on real empirical data (thanks to you) and that's good enough for me!

It'll be really great if I can find something at that address that would lead me to someone that could validate it.

Thanks so much for your help JB, you made my day
