My boat will be stored outside:( so im wondering if it is a good idea to cover the outdrive in addition to a boat cover.

We live in San Diego so extreme weather isnt really an issue but we do have moisture in the morning etc...

Could you just make a canvas cover etc or does the outdrive ever need it. Im assuming it does.

Re: Out drive covers

Some people like their outdrives to keep looking good. After enough dirt, bugs, bird poop, and sunlight and outdrive just isn't looking that great any more. Most people just don't care but if you do then here is an example of what there is out there:
http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cgi?prod_id=14012

Re: Out drive covers

cliff, A lot of folks like to plastic bag their outdrives here in NJ, over the winter. I have always thought that after spending the summer in salt water, the outdrive would "love" the winter. Also, plastic retains moisture and corrodes items you never thought corroded. If you need to protect it, and you do not like that spray-on corrosion protection, due to its color or stickiness, use a breatheable cover, with some water resistance, like a boat top.
