i have a 1993 Alpha 1 with a remote gear lube tank SN OF235939 i would like to do a pressure test on the boat does the tank have a check valve or should i just pinch the line?

if i pressure test with the drive off how do i plug the hole?

i noticed last year that it seemed to leak by the oring between the upper and the mount should i use silicone there i am positive the oring was in place when i put the drive back on.

i had a bunch of gear lube on the lower unit possibly out the drain holes on the lower is that always the shaft seals or could it be something else, drive was up when i noticed it remote tank is empty and no lube came out of the top plug so it leaked a lot

thanks for the help

No, there is no check valve on the tank

The hole is self sealed when the drive is removed.

Merc says to use 3M sealant but I just use grease. If it is leaking, look closer at the surfaces for imperfections.

Need to pressure test the lower unit as a whole item.
