out drive

hello I might buy a redone 1975 19 FOOT SEA RAY and it says its all good accept for water geting into the oil. it has a 165hp inline six cylinder with merc. out drive. can you help.

(ps its my first boat and im only 13.)

Welcome to iboats.

1. I have moved this to the I/O Forum. Mercruiser is not an outboard.

2. Don't even think about it!! Water in the oil?? BAD news, and expen$ive news. Get yourself a nice outboard boat that doesn't need expensive work done and then work up from there.

Is this in the Motor's oil,..?? If So,... You'll need a new Block, most likely...

tell them outdrive is junk get it cheap and buy aftermarket drive for $1300 and forget about it for awhile.

Thanks everyone.as you know im new to boats i put out drive boats its a stern drive.lol thanks the guy im buying it from said he going to drop in a new engine for it. thanx il post pic if/when i get it

13? wow, good for you..
You say he is dropping in a "new" motor? I assume a "different" or used block..
How do you know that block is OK?
Just thinking through it, why wouldn't he put the "new" motor in it and sell it as a complete running package?
I wish you the best of luck, do you have an adult that knows anything about boats that is looking over your shoulder and looking out for you?
