finally found a real use for a briggs & straton outboard. remove the prop, and put a rubber wheel on it. couple of zip ties.

Now that would depend on wieght, displacement,speed and just how much air you can put in those tires.

How old is that article cc67? I have thought about using friction drive in the past on a bicycle, what had me thinking about it was the friction drive speedometer I use to have on one bike. Between the air cooled out board motor and the picture here, I seem to think along the lines of these guys. I put an electric motor on my older model trolling motor so I can have electric steering.

I had a friend who put one of those tiny friction drive generators on his Harley to power his brake light. He blew the tire at 60 mph.

A friction drive air cooled gas powered bike motor is nothing new, they used to sell a unit with a hinge assembly onto the handlebars to drive the front wheel, they probably still do somewhere.

whizzers are not longer made. but the orient, is full of bicycles with motors. there are several friction, belt, and chain driven kits available.

here's my 80cc toy, runs out about 30mph, faster than i want to fall on it.

Here's my 1450cc toy.It goes faster than I want to fall off of. Although I did in 1985.(Hit a deer). Ouch.

a buddy of mine had an honda vtx 1800 very simular to yours, it was a fun bike but i dident like the balance on it, too top heavy and i could get him on acceleration up to about 60 then he would blow past me. i bet the outboard bike gets better fuel millage than me too
