Getting ready to purchase a new 17' McKee Craft. Dealer is giving me three choices of engine. <br />Mercury 115 (he didn't mention saltwater or not)<br />Honda 90<br />Suzuki 90<br />All brand new. All same price.<br /><br />I am replacing my 18 y.o. boat. I was told (18 years ago) "Do not buy Mercury for use in salt water!"<br />Comments welcome.

Re: outboard choices

no experience with suzuki, although i hear they are good.<br />my choice would be the honda, great motor<br />trouble free, easy maintenance.<br />4 stroke, so fuel economy is great.

Re: outboard choices

Your home turf has the best two stroke technology -- why not ask your dealer about an Evinrude E-tec. He'll probably same can't do it, but why not buy what you want rather than what the dealer wants you to have.

I'd buy the Suzuki over either of the other 2, but would definitely inquire about the E-tec. Better fuel economy than all of them. May cost a bit more though.

Re: outboard choices

Usually, a 115 will weigh the same as a 90. Is the Merc a 4stroke? Is the Honda EFI? Which color do you like?
