Outboard control questions

Hi, I haven't owned an outboard in 30+ years and have a few questions about my new project.
It's a 1979 Mako 21 CC with a 1994 Evinrude 225, which I plan on repowering.

1. Are throttle controls universal? I.E. can the ones on the boat now work with other make/model engines?
2. Same for the hydraulic steering?
3. Does the rotation of the new motor matter?
4. Anything else I should know?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.....

Nope, nothin' universal 'bout the controller, they usually move with the motor,....

The hyd. steerin' probably will, but might need an adapter,...

Right-handed is standard, 'n props are easier to find,...
