Does anyone know of any company which repairs crankshafts? I have a 81' 175 Merq 2.0l and my fuel pump went bad causing the motor to run lean. Two of the rod journals have spawling on them from the lack of lube. All the local shops say that welding or chroming doesn't work. The only place I've found so far is OCC in Seattle and they want $658.

How about a good used crank?

Definately go used dude. As an auto mechanic I come across this problem often and believe me...It aint cheap to chrome a crank, But it can be done..( depending on the amount of wear it took..)
Good luck....Check E-Bay

Contact Jack at Superior Marine at 800-338-9281. Ask him about used and rebuilt. He's pretty much on top of things in that area.

Good luck!

Kenth,
I believe the 87' 200Hp would be a 2.4L and my 175 is a 2.0L. Does anyone else know if this is correct? Or am I mistaken?

That's great Kenth, how much do you need for it? Is there anything wrong with it what so ever? Seal surfaces? Thanks again for all the help!
