Hi
I am new to the forum.
I have so many questions and yes I read almost every thing on the forum.

I am thinking about buying a used 16ft bayliner capri with an out board engine. The boat is for $300 and interior need to be done - no engine.
Primarily I want to use it for sea water fishing close to the shore but from time to time I want to take my wife for a spin - nothing fancy - no towing or water sports just a ride.
My main question is:
How many hp the outboard should be? - I don't need speed just enough to get to the kelp beds and back and be safe. I know lame but I just need a fishing boat and I like the bayliner shapes.

Cheers

I believe most of them were rigged with a 70 h.p. motor from the dealer. Now this is not to say there weren't other options, I'm just not up to speed on them.
So I'm thinking that anything close to that should be a decent compromise for you. :D

You didn't say what year, but the 1980's models came with either a 50hp or 85hp for the bow riders, and 85hp for cuddy cabins.
