I have a little 15' homemade skiff ( http://bellsouthpwp.net/o/b/ob15/ )with an evinrude 50hp on the back. The antiventilation plate is appoximately 1/4"-3/8" below the keel. I was thinking about raising it 1 hole on the mount which would put it around 1/2" above the keel. What will this do for performance or should I just do it and see what happens? Right now I have the prop/rpm's (4 balde 11.5"x16) tweaked just right (WOT - 5400 rpm) but have another prop with 1" more pitch (3 blade 11.75"x17). I know the 4 blades will give better hole shots & midrange handling and lower top speed vs. the 3 blade.

Also, what is the minimum distance the prop should be from the antiventilation plate?

Thanks in advance.

It should improve your performance. Try it and see what happens. Check RPM's closely and water pressure .too. My prop sits real close to the plate. Maybe 1/4" or so.
