Well, it is still an open question. But, a 20-40 HP vintage engine will simply clamp to the transom and there may be two bolt holes you need to drill at the bottom of the clamps. Control cables and wiring pass through the hole in the side of the splashwell and control box is mounted on the right hand side of the hull.
Steering is a separate question because it depends entirely on the steering set-up of the engine---single cable with rotary helm or aircraft cable with pulleys.
