OUTBOARD JET Intake FINS . . . Need some info

Hello. . .. All

I have a 70hp evinrude with an outboard jet on it, and I wanted to make some fins for the intake foot, but am unable to find any good pictures or info on them.

I did see some fins (poor picture) that go straight down off the sides of the intake foot, and another set that angled out from the intake foot.

Anyone on here runs fins or know the good / bad for either design mentioned above ?

All I need is a picture, and I can easily make them, I already have the aluminum stock to do it, just mant to make sure I am making them so they will work the best.

I posted this in Non-repair, and am thinking this may be where I should have posted it for info . . . . .

Any and all input from people who are familiar with outboard jets and intake fins would be appreciated !!!

Thanks

They help a little, but get beat up fast if you hit anything, mine are so bad I may just take them off. You should be able to find a pic online if you google it.

The ones in the kit bolt on, other companies will weld on some thicker bar stock to each side of the intake.

As I said in the intial post, I have looked endlessly online , and cannot find but two pictures, of two variations one straight and one agled.

All I really need to do is see a GOOD picture and I can easily make them.

As well . . . . my concern is whether they operate better straight down or angled ??

Sorry I can't send a pic, mines under 3' of snow. but I have used both and the angled ones are best as they direct more water to the foot. Helps to reduce cavitation. Also helps steering control at lower speeds. goggle (snyder boats . com) they have a pic near bottom of page that shows you the angle. Also some good maintenance advice.

The angled fins, give some lift to stern for slightly faster planing, give a little better slow speed steering and do funnel water to the pump better, I also noticed a slight loss of top speed.
