im trying to remove the leg of an evenrurde 15 Ive removed the gearbox , flywheel, starter motor, all the bolts on the side of the leg and mount bolts of the engine and it will not drop down.
There is a fork that goes into the leg but this will not come out
Do i have to remove the complete power head or what
What i really need is to remove the the bracket that attaches to the engine to get at the swivel tube

Re: outboard leg removal

Do you have a manual ???
What year is the motor ??
Post your model number on the transom bracket for more accurate help.

Re: outboard leg removal

See if this helps:

Lower Unit

Thanks a million for that
but its the centre leg I want to remove
I have the bottom off and the bracket but I cant shift the leg or centre ie where the bracket connects to the leg and contains the swivel tube which is broken

Re: outboard leg removal

If you don't have a manual you may want to look at shop.evinrude.com for a parts break down.

A model # would also help ??

Thanks for that,
But I removed 4 bolts ie two on each side of the leg going in at right angles into the leg
The fork is loose but will not budge
Are there two more bolts running some where in line with the leg which are hidden
I can only lift the power head half an inch away from casing
Maybe i should dismantle the powerhead a bit more

Have I lost you with all this ?

Cheers.

Re: outboard leg removal

first take out powerhead, completly out from midsection,
if you yake out powerhead, inside midsection you notice 2 long bolts, take them out
lower part of midsection is atached to bracket system also by 2 bolts, this 2 one you notice just abowe lower unit and midsection joint
