Outboard longevity?

How many hours should one expect to get out of a two cylinder,two stroke outboard engine before tear down if maintained accordingly?

If maintained correctly and set up properly, several thousand hours.

I agree. The average is about 1500 hours, so the correctly maintained engines must be going 2,000 to 4,000 hours.
