outboard motor for American Sun Dolphin 12 ft. jon boat

Hi,
I purchased an American Sun Dolphin 12 ft. Jon Boat for my husband, also bought a motor but the clamps did not extend over the 2 3/4" transom, so took it back. Can someone tell me what outboard gasoline motor would work. I do know that 6 hp is the max for the boat. The clamps have to fit.

Most Eska's/gamefisher's I have had have really shallow clamp mouth, I just finished raising and building a new transom for my grandson's flat bottom...I had to take the belt sander to it several times to get my motors to fit, the johnsons seem to have a larger area and fit no problem and my tanaka will fit the larger transom thickness.


the rain has stopped and were off to the lake for some pan fish
