Not sure if this is the correct forum, if not forgive me. I have a 93 Four Winns fish and ski Freedom 180 with a 93 Johnson 115. I was wondering what is the correct height for mounting the motor. Looked at the online manual but dont see anything. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Re: Outboard motor height

The right height is whatever height makes the boat perform the best. The starting point for experimentation is so the AV plate is about one inch above the bottom of the boat. You go up one hole at a time. DO NOT go so high that the engine loses water pressure (water pump sucks air) as it will cost you an engine. Unless you are after the last tad bit of performance, set it at one or two inches and call it good. Going higher you really need to install a water pressure gauge to monitor water pressure.
