We have a 69 Stamas with a 5.0L GM that had an OMC sterndrive. Now it has the outer mount.. have a lead on a good 3.0L Mercruiser boat.. that needs a motor.
Would it be feasible to use the Mercruiser outdrive on our Stamas. I've read there's an adapter for OMC to Mercruiser..

The only thing that fits that big OMC hole in the transom is another OMC of similar vintage

To switch to a Merc or other, you need to rebuild the transom and atringers

Ayuh,....... Welcome Aboard,..... That drive will only work with another 3.0l motor, not with yer OMC motor,......
'n the SEI adapter you mention, only works on the much newer OMC Cobra drives,.....

All stern drives, mercruiser, Volvo and OMC after 1977 were 4” shorter there fore the engines sat lower in the boat.
Stamas hulls were made pretty good and hold up well. If the stringers are still solid you could have the transom filled then have an outboard bracket mounted then a 150-200 hp outboard motor. In the long run that would probably the easiest repair.
