Hey guys im looking into re painting my motor, specifically the lower unit what kinda paint should i look for?

The factory paint on an outboard is a very special multi-layer process, but for touch-up on the lower unit and skeg I found some automotive spray paint at Advance Auto in a "Blue Metallic" color which matches the Yamaha color pretty darn well. For a real paint job you may need to get some professional help, like an automotive body shop or similar....

If you decide to DIY then you must prime the bare aluminum spots with zinc chromate and there are spray cans of the colors available.

I've painted my outdrive with this. It's not a thick as the factory coat, but it makes great touch up.
