Good evening everyone. Well I am still making progeress on the 17' Blue Fin center console. I mounted the 4 hp kicker in the same position the old two stroke 4 horse went, then clamped temporarily the 40 horse slightly right of center. Took the boat up to the lake to float it and check for balance. well as I thought the boat does tend to lean a bit left (boat must be democrat) so I slid the 40 over to the right a bit more and it did help some but still some leaning. I could slide it over more so it balances in the water but my concern is if I move it too far from center will it make the boat ride or handle funny? The batteries are going dead center in the console, so they won't help any. The gas could go right of center (12 gallons) and that could help some I suppose but I guess I am asking if it would hurt to move motor more right of center?

oops!

the main motor should be in the center of the boat.

the kicker to the side.

you can move the main motor around but you suffer performance and handeling issues.

if you are prepaired to live with the issues, (and are aware of them in emergency situations) then go for it.

Center the main motor as already advised and move weight around the boat to balance it out with the kicker to one side.

i have never seen a manual that reccomendes a offset instalation!if you think you might have issues you could also concider nauticus trim tabs ,they did wonders for my boat.
