I need some help about removal of a 1984 150hp evenrude outboard before I start the rebuilding of my transom.
I have a car engine puller to lift the motor off the transom but I do not see any spot to hook the motor to lift.
I need the experts here to give me a hand on how I should go about this.
Thanks for your help

Most outboards have a loop or ring on the very top of the motor near the flywheel where you can hook it up. If not on yours, you should be able to get a bolt on one.

If you don't have one yet, get a service manual.

I've never done it before however, I have seen an "eye bolt" type fitting which attaches to the fly wheel shaft. I suspect you remove the nut holding the flywheel and screw on this fitting which provides you with an eye bolt. The motor is then lifted by the eye bolt.

There's a lifting eye that screws into the four screw holes around the inside edge of the flywheel. I have one that I bought online from Bob's Machine Shop. Others here have talked of making their own with a wheel puller, be sure to use grade 8 bolts.

If you can't get an eye on the motor, another way to get it off is to lower the trailer tongue all the way down and have the motor all the way down too. Then block up the space between the floor and the skeg with 2x4's etc. Next start cranking the trailer tongue back up while an assistant holds the motor steady. The transom goes down, leaving the motor standing on the skeg while the assistant keeps the motor balanced upright. Then you both can lay down the motor. This is how I got a 300lbs V4 Evinrude off the transom of my MFG. It was easy to keep the motor balanced on the skeg, but it took two full size adults to muscle the motor around the garage.

Re: Outboard removal

There is a lifting sling out there for outboards. See the attached below. I do not like to mention other venders in the iboats forum but they can be bought online. The brand name is Motor Tote. Do search and you will find one. I found a couple online that will lift up to 150lbs. but they make one that is rated at 400lbs as well. Iboats may also carry them I have not checked.
