I have a 28' walkaround boat, rated for a max of 400HP. It's weigth is about 4.000 pounds. I thinking in fitting in twin 150HP, but I was told that a single 250Hp should be ok too (except for redundancy of course). Is this correct?

It really depends on where you'll be boating. If you go out in the ocean or any really big body of water then you might want to consider the twins incase one gives problems you can still get home.

the twins will also give you better performance along with the additional insurance of being able to get home .
