Mornin y'awl ... Imona do a littre brainrattlin here today ... LOL

Back some time ago (dont ask me how long) when most lawnmowers were 2 cycled ... there was an additive that could be added to the gas/oil mix that was a moskitos repellant ... anybody remembers that ??

Although some of us like the odor of petroleum 2 cycle smoke early in the morning ... some oil do that (castrol-Can/tire) others stink (Qwicksilver-Saber)

Sooo in that line of thinking ... why could'nt there be some sort of fragrance additive to OB mixes that would inhence the odor of 2 cycle OB smoke to something pleasant ???

Any suggestions ??? LOL

Now there's a million dollar opportunity for you. Run with it. But just remember that what smells good to you may smell like skunk pee to someone else. That leads to creating an "Outboard Perfume Inventory" a mile long. The only serious problem is that you best be quick because stinky outboards are going away quickly.

Sorry but I also disagree with (we can still be friends ..lol)you on the 'stinky outboards being on the way out'

IMO 2 cycle OB's are to 4 cycle ... what FUN is to Boredom and for that reason Mfgs are going to fight back.

Let's remember that at this very moment the least poluting OB is a 2 cycle E-tech.

Furthemore car diesel motors mainly used in Europe have been bashed for decades ... (they have no $hares in Exxon ..lol) due to odor and polution ... Funny enough at this very moment the least poluting car engine in the world is a new concept diesel motor produced by Fiat. (this has been published lately) ... clean enough to be rated cleaner than any Hybrid car at highway speed.

I want to keep my eyes open to see what is next !!! LOL

If you don't like the smell of the exhaust, then 2 stroke outboards are not for you.

You obviously took my "stinky outboard" comment way out of context. Stinky outboards -- as in carbureted two strokes which are the very worst of the lot are indeed on the way out. It may take another 20 years or so before they are all but gone except for those saved by the collectors, but the E-tec's and the wanna be's are not even in the same category of smell so in that regard I agree. In my view both the two and four strokes will fall to some new technology down the road so this discussion can take place again in the future. Probably shortly after I've left the planet.

I did not perceive anything wrong with your comment, but I made a direct relation between the 2 cycles and the 4 cycle trend indeed ... and there was no offence either way. You and I will not breach freedom of speach ... LOL LOL

While supply last (carbed OB's) there are alternatives to lessen the bad rep ... synthetic oils of any brand, Shell's bio-degradable OB oil (not avail in america) and those lean mix ration ones that claim 30% less polution.

Personaly I dont think modern carb OB's with 50:1 + lean mixtures are the ones totaly responsible for our waters condition ... I thruly beleve the 16:1 and 24:1 ratio oldies were the ones that messed up our lakes and rivers with non bio-degradable oils ... and it happened at a time when having an outboard powered boat was more popular than today ... at least this is what I withness on the river I spent most of my years on.

Back in the early 60's there was so many boats on the river you would have needed traffic lights ... nowadays you can spot a boat here and there ... no more ... maybe less people can affort them .. donno.

Thank you for your feedback ... I enjoyed the conversation.
