As I tilt the outboards (haven't bought them yet - probably something like twin Yamaha 200s) fully out of the water, and the power head moves forward, how much free space do I need to leave for the power head movement?

11. Please do not post multiple threads in multiple forums about a single problem. This is confusing to those trying to help you. Multiple threads in the same forum about the same issue are also confusing. If you want help fast, one thread in the most closely related forum is the best way to get it.

I'm not sure why you are asking, since boats are designed to accomodate that and yo aren't going to do anything different once you know, are you? Or are you building a boat?

Here are two related issues--on some boats (newer sea hunts, I think) you can have a conflict between an open live well hatch in the stern and a raising motor (the motor wins). or on an open transom (this happened on my carolina skiff) if there is a cooler in front of the motor when you raise it you might bend the control cables sticking out the front.

So if you are building a boat account for more than just the head.

Thanks HC. To answer your question, I am building a transom seat and wanted to know how far back I can go with it. There are no hatches or other encumbrances to deal with. I'm sure people sometimes forget to plan the entire space.
