I have an 89 trophy 23' cuddy cabin walk around and someone posed the prospect of converting to a diesel inboard.

Anyone have an idea how much that retro fit would run in materials and effort, not including the engine and stern drive?

Re: outboard to inboard conversion

An inboard? Or an inboard/outboard? Either way you are looking at possibly thousands of dollars and a tremendous amount of work.

A true inboard would require a transmission, propshaft and ALLOT of hull restructure work.

An I/O would also require allot of structure work ....... transom stringers and more

Conversions on a 1989 boat are not worth the money or effort. Ypou could purchase another boat for what you would have invested. Look at NADA and you will see that a 1989 Cuddy even larger then yours sells for under $4500 and a conversion will cost at least that and more.

Forget it. The end product is not worth the cost or effort.

that's what I figured also. And you're right about the value of these old boats.
