Well its that time of year that Im getting the boat ready for the fishing season. I am putting the old girl in the shop for her yearly physical. I found a local shop in my neighborhood that i think is gonna work out for me. Before i drop the money for the check up and service i wanted to ask a couple opinions to make sure im getting a fair price. I have two friends that both went through this mechanic and they both stand behind him. He is a merc certified mechanic and is not one of those lame craigslist repair guys...
1995 mercury 90 outboard 2 stoke
I spoke with him on the phone and he quoted me a price of just under $700 for all the service. which includes: impeller, fuel and oil lines, lower unit inspect and oil change, removing of carbs and cleaning, spark plugs and all the other normal check items. He insured me it would be a top to bottom check. Does this sound like a reasonable price? Are there any things i should be askiing him to make sure he checks? Should i ask him about a warranty on his work? thanks guys. this will be the first time ive had any of my boats through a mechanic.
