Is there a better place to find a fair value for outboard motors, if you look up older boat motors and nada has values listed as 30 and 40$ for a 35 hp motor...but I have never seen outboards for sale that cheap..?

NADA is generally worthless and is extra special worthless for outboards. Just keep checking craigslist or ask on here. Heck, I've got a pretty decent outboard value guide in my head that's better than NADA :D

Well NADA lists my 1984 Evinrude 75hp @ $130

They usually sell in the $1000 neighborhood around here, so what does that tell you about NADA?

NADA is simply what the bank would loan on that piece of equipment.
the used outboard market is all over the place with to many variables to lock a value on.

Tells you more about the people buying those motors.

A major problem might come when you need to report an insurance claim and they use NADA to estimate worth. It has my 93 Mariner 150 listed at $630. That might cover the prop lol. Kind of scary! Hope I never have to report a claim!

The real indication of value is what someone would pay you for it. Or what you'd have to pay to replace it. See what others are asking in your area for similar age/condition/hp. Or go to a boat dealer and see what they'd give you in trade for a new motor, and tripple that value.
