Do you need the weight for something precise like a shipping cost, or just to see if you can lift it?

As far as I know, the 7.5 and 9.8's from that era are essentially the same engine, the same weight. I have a 1974 9.8 long shaft, probably a year or two younger than yours, but very similar. My guess is my engine weighs about 70 lbs and it's pretty easy to handle. The following listing for a 7.5 looks exactly like my 9.8 except for shaft length, and it lists the 7.5 at 65 lbs - which is consistent with my guess for my long shaft. http://www.smalloutboards.com/m75b.htm

Bore and stroke and displacement are the same.Of course the best way to compare is by part numbers for various components.Who knows;maybe a 7.5 is just a choked down 9.8.
