I Planned on winterizing this weekend, but the temperature dipped down to 28 last night. I have a 1970 115 hp mercury Ouboard. How much trouble am I in. I hve heard that the outboards will drain when in the down tilt position. Will this get me by until this weekend. Also, If I wanted to use the boat for hunting or late season fishing, how do I keep it from freezing in between trips? Thanks

Re: Outboard winterizing

I would be more worried about posting your question in the wrong forum them damage to your outboard. I have a buddy with a Envinrude 115hp that hasn't even taken off the hood of his engine in at least 3 years. It just keeps on running. Not that I advocate not doing any maintenance but outboards, especially 2 strokes, don't require much. Thats why you see mostly outboards on fishing boats. Those guys are Musky fishing in a lot colder weather then 28 degrees.

Jeff
