What is the best way to clean an outdrive and make it look brand new? I dont have any algae or anything sever on mine, just had a slight hazy, oxidized look to it. Its a Mercruiser Bravo 1 drive.

Can I use that Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish? Or can you not use that on painted surfaces? Im assuming the outdrive is aluminum.........

What chemical and a scotchbright pad and/or light steel wool will take off that oxidation?

Re: Outdrive Cleaning

I'm not sure about the mag polish but I would start with using a rubbing/polishing compound, which is also used on painted finishes. Its usually found on the same shelves as all the waxes and polishes. ;)I've had great luck with it bringing back oxidized finishes....it definitely works, but its a lot of muscle work. Definitely not a spray on-wipe off kind of job.
Good Luck:)

Re: Outdrive Cleaning

might be just mineral buildup. try some lime away (yes, toilet bowl cleaner). just put it on. maybe brush it in a bit. hose it off. i don't leave it on to long. if it's mineral build up. you'll see the lime away start to work instantly... see where that leaves you at...

Re: Outdrive Cleaning

We mix up a spray bottle of Simple Green 2/3rds full
3 teaspoons of white vinegar
and top off the spray bottle with water.

We spray our outdrive down EVERYTIME we pull it out of the lake. Still shiny !!!!!
