Outdrive does not take in water anymore

Hi:I accidently put this with the Mercury section so if you see this in the Mecury problems forum it is supposed to be here. I have a 1989 Cruisers Holiday 2670 with dual 3.7 4 cylinder Mercs. I started it up the other day like I usually do (put the muffs over the intake vents on the outdrives and turn on the water hose)and went to the helm after both engines were running a few minutes I started smelling somthing and the tempature guage was rising on the starboard engine so I turned them off and when I started the starboard one again water wasnt coming out of the holes where it usually does and it seems to over heat, this is a closed cooling system but I know that water is still needed to cool other components. Iv always started this boat and my past boats the same way before and never had a problem. do you know what is wrong. Thanks

Hi, I ment to put this in Mercruiser problems instead of mercury, but anyways I bought this boat recently and was sitting for years and never used and only has 150 hours on it, but the impeller was never replaced or even messed with Thanks

This is from your other post, and I agree also, you now know where your problem is.

yup, replace those impellers
