Outdrive engine setup

I was doing some dreaming today and went online to look at Cigarette Racing Speed Boats. The 50' one has a triple 1075 Mercury Setup and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how this type of setup works (I included a pic). How does the power get to the drive of the port and starboard engines if theyre not directly on the transom??? Does anyone know?

The power gets to the port and starboard drives the same way as it gets to the center drive; through a driveshaft. The forward engines have longer driveshafts.

oh wow i feel dumb I didn't even realize sterndrives used actual "driveshafts" like inboards do. Woops... Well, that just proves Im not an I/O person
