Outdrive gasket Question

Hopefully I will be installing my new Jasper longblock this weekend. The mechanic at the boat shop told me I need to glue the big O ring where the outdrive slides in, and the small O ring on the water intake. The manual says to glue on one page and another doesn't mention it. Merc manual. So what do I use to glue it in place if this is so?

I use Mercs bellows adhesive. But any contact cement will hold it in place.
Some use grease, but if that oring gets bumped and knocked out of place you WILL get water in your bellows, in your drive, in your ujoints, in your gimbal bearing and in your boat.
So you get to decide if you want to use grease or adhesive.
