FBTony:<br /><br />My references say the Mercruiser outdrive mated to an IL6 165 runs serial numbers 2763442 THRU 4890459, covering years 1970 thru 1977. There are a number of sources for rebuilt, remanufactured and used outdrives. eBay offers used items as well as dealers with rebuilt units. I would not recommend buying the outdrive in two separate untested pieces, ie upper & lower used units, and putting them together untested. You're probably aware of the expense of a good rebuilt outdrive, try a good search engine on the net for "Mercruiser" or contact a local marine dealer. The weight causes the shipping costs to be rather high if shipped from a distance. Other members of this forum can sure be of help too.
