Re: Outdrive info

My mechanic was putting a bellows kit on my Cobra this summer when he informed me that an Alpha would bolt right up.

Ok, but is an Alpha compatable with a big block and a 4 cylinder? Im Looking for the best replacement for a 95 King Cobra on a 7.4L.

I kinda thought that but didn't know. Does the I -II-III represent older vs newer models?

When Bondo says...

He is right. But not because the Alpha would not fit. It's just that the Alpha will not hold up to the torque and horsepower of a big block. Mercruiser put them behind the big blocks for a short time, but found they were getting destroyed in short order. Your best best is a Bravo... but yes, an alpha will fit.
