Outdrive mounting gasket

I'm helping a neighbor install his Alpha 1 gen 1 outdrive to a 1974 Mercruiser 1 bell housing. I'm not sure if the older style round top gasket or the square top Alpha 1 should be used. Which gasket should be used?

Ayuh,... Even the Alpha, Gen.II gaskets work, just Fine....
