Hi All,
I have a 91 Chaparral 1800SL with a Mercruiser, Bravo 1 Outdrive.
My trim guage quit working about two weeks ago, then my trim started working sporadically. Yesterday the motor would not tilt or trim. The solenoids fired, but nothing happened. No up or down and the trailer switch doesnt work either.
I dropped down under the dash and started squeezing the connectors on the guage while engaging the trim switc. Once or twice while doing this, I heard the motor trimming. I am not sure if it was the wires themselves or the prongs going into the guage that had the effect.
Does this mean the sender is bad, guage is bad, or do I have a bad ground? How can I test to pinpoint the issue? I know the sender is run through the outdrive, so I am praying it is not the issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.
