outdrive oil capacity

I have a 2002 Volvo Penta 5.7Gi DP. I'm changing the outdrive oil and I'm confused on the capacity. The manual says there should be 2.5 quarts. It was full before I drained it, but only about 1 quart (if that) was drained. The outdrive is in the down position. I left it overnight, thinking it would drain more. I know that there is no way to drain all 2.5 quarts, but that's a big discrepancy. Has anyone had this same problem?

Re: outdrive oil capacity

ok... nevermind. I totally underestimated the amount of oil in the drain pan I was using. It's about 2.5 quarts. So I guess the capacity info is correct and I'm wrong. btw... there was quite a bit of oil that drained out after it started to drip. I let it drain over the weekend just to see how much more would come out. When I left, there was about 1/2 inch between the bottom of the skeg to the top of the oil in the drain pan. When I checked it this morning, the skeg was touching the surface of the drained oil. The size of the drain pan is about 1 foot square.
