I can't get my pivot pins to move at all. I removed the keepers and no luck. Do they only go one way? I am trying to drive them inboard. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

You mean the pins the trim cylinders mount to? If so, no they go either way. My forward pin was oxidized in place, I had to put penetrating oil thru the screw holes where the ground straps mount and then heat it. My cylinder was actually stuck on the pin so I used that to turn the pin back and forth to pull it. Then I put new ones in a made sure they were greased up well. Good luck man!

which outdrive are you working on?

if its an older 270/280/290, you can drive them in if they dont move. use a brass drift, you will have to turn the helmet a bit for clearance. use tef-gel when you reassemble it.

later 290's and variants came with threaded holes in the pins to use a slide hammer to remove.

It is an older 280 so I will drive them on in. They are soaking in penetrating oil now so I will try it when I get home from work.

Triple, they are the pivot pins the outdrive pivots on when tilting the drive. I son't have trim cylinders on this one. Thank you very much for your info though! It is greatly appreciated!

Scott, Thank you for the clarification and I will post the outcome here!

Regards,
Dale
