outdrive problem

While checking out my boat today before heading out this weekend, I noticed that my outdrive will only move down and will not raise by the regular trim switch. The only way to get it to come back up is by the "trailer" button on the shifter, which works fine. It is like the regular switch is completely dead when depressed to raise. Can these things short out only in one direction? It's a 3.0 Mercruiser with the Alpha 1 outdrive and the fluid is showing full. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Re: outdrive problem

Usually it's Either the Trim limit Switch, or It's Wires are Junk,+ need Replacing,........
Which is a B!tsh of a Job to Do.....

You can get by using the Trailer switch,...
Or,... The wiring can be By-passed at the inside of the transom by switching the bullet connectors around.........

Re: outdrive problem

or........you are not lowering the drive enough to let the trim botton work. Try lowering the front of your trailer way down and then lower the drive until it touches the ground, then try using the up button. Only try this if you are sure that the trailer button will work. If that works........I know from experience! :D ;)
