The info I'm finding on this topic is all recommendations for V8 owners using outdrives geared for smaller engines. I'm trying to go the other way.
I just bought an alpha one gen 1 upper/lower + prop because it was too good for the price to pass up even if I can't use it. I'd really like to replace the old leaky corroded alpha one/mr drive I have now with this one. My current engine Merc 470 calls for 1.84 gears, this new drive is stamped 1.47. Is there a prop I can get that will work or is this lower ratio too much for the engine?
