My merc 470 drive is kind of clunking while in gear at idle, seems to go away when rpms increase. This was while trying to adjust my shift cables and I was unsuccessful so I'm not sure if this happens in forward - only could get reverse. Nonetheless, it never made any noise before so I'm fearing something is wrong in the lower unit. I'm going to go home and drain it after work to see if there is any metal in the oil. Anyway, my question is will an alpha 1 gen 1 bolt to my bellhousing? Will a gen 2? Thanks for any input guys!
